■Take a photo looking at your house from the street and decide if you would really want to buy  the home from the photo. Make sure the grass is green and maintained, the house is framed with some landscaping, and the paint and driveway are in good condition.

 

■To improve the lawn, mow and trim weekly, watering twice weekly, and every six to eight weeks fertilize in a 3-5 step program.

 

■To begin a landscape you will most likely want professional help, consider framing the house with a few small trees in mulch or rock beds.  In the beds add shrubs with color and varying size and perennial flowers to create depth and scale.  Remember as you design that the first thing anyone will see of your home is the view from the street and up the front walk, commit the first basic effort in these areas for maximum impact!
